What is CE certification
CE marking is a compulsory certification for product safety in the European Union. As long as a product is in the CE catalogue, it needs to be CE marked if it is to be sold in the EU, regardless of whether it is locally produced or not. Electric fans are also included in the CE catalogue and therefore require CE marking in order to be marketed in the EU.
In recent years, the CE mark has been increasingly used on goods sold on the market in the European Economic Area (European Union, EFTA member countries, except Switzerland). The CE mark affixed to goods indicates that they meet the requirements intended to be expressed by a number of European directives on safety, hygiene, environmental protection and consumer protection.

To understand the scope of products subject to CE marking, you first need to understand which directives are specifically covered by CE marking. A "directive" is a regulation that sets out the basic safety requirements and routes for a product.
Each directive has a specific product category, understand the meaning of the directive can be understood to CE certification of the specific product range, the following thirteen categories of scope.

EMC | Mainly for electrical and electronic products with circuit boards that generate electrical base disturbances |

| CPR | Mainly for building materials used in building construction |
| PED | Mainly for vessels, pipelines, safety components and pressure parts with a maximum pressure above 0.5 bar |
| MDD | Mainly for general medical devices |
| TOY | mainly for toys |
| ATEX | Mainly for products that are used in the event of an explosio |
| RCD | Mainly for yachts |
| LIFTS | Mainly for lifts |
| RTTE | Mainly for radio equipment and telecommunication terminal equipment |
| MID | Mainly for measuring instruments |
From the table we can see that the CE directives that need to be processed for electric fans and ceiling fans are LVD and EMC.
